Reports suggest he was battling an infection and pneumonia in hospital when he died.

The writer Tom Wolfe, who was instantly recognizable in his signature white suits, died on Monday in NY.

On "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test", our reviewer wrote, "it is not simply the best book on the hippies, it is the essential book".

He was known as a pioneer of a literary style in nonfiction that became known as New Journalism.

Dita along with his wife and four children were involved in the suicide bombings at three churches in Surabaya on Sunday. At Surabaya Centre Pentecostal Church, Futrianto then drove his auto onto the church grounds and detonated explosives.

Wolfe started as a reporter at the Springfield (Massachusetts) Union before moving onto the Washington Post. These titles put him in a class with other great writers whose titles also became films like Truman Capote (1967's In Cold Blood) and Norman Mailer (1958's The Naked and the Dead). He was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, and went to college at Washington and Lee University and received his PhD from Yale.

While the stories have no connecting theme, this is the first book that gave early examples of New Journalism. Throughout his work, Wolfe's marvelous facility with language created several new phrases, including "radical chic" and "the Me decade".

In a career spanning more than half a century, Wolfe wrote fiction and non-fiction bestsellers, starting with The Kandy-Kolored Tangerine-Flake Streamline Baby (1965).

His best-selling book "The Right Stuff" which is about rocket airplane experiments after World War II and the Project Mercury astronauts, won the American Book Award for nonfiction, the National Institute of Arts and Letters Harold Vursell Award for prose style, and the Columbia Journalism Award.
