Instagram code reveals music service within Stories and ability to detect music
According to a tip received by TechCrunch from Twitter user Jane Manchun Wong, this feature automatically detects the song that's playing on the phone and creates a sticker for it which you could probably add to your Stories or posts so that viewers can listen to it when they come across it.
A new track identification service was also found buried in the code, meaning Instagram could soon display a track's name and the artist behind it. It could also pose a threat to rival platforms and apps, but that of course depends on how well it takes off with Instagram users.
Instagram is preparing to let you add music to your Stories, judging by code found inside its Android app. "music stickers" could let you search for and add a song to your posts, thanks to licensing deals with the major record labels recently struck by Facebook. Now the only way to have music heard in your stories is to have it play in the background on your device while you are recording a story. The feature is located within the sticker tray that's present on the Instagram Stories editing page. Per the screenshot shared by TechCrunch, users will be able to choose from three differently categorised sections under the sticker.

Facebook-owned Instagram has been hard at work testing and rolling out new features. Tapping on it further presents the "Search Music" option along with different tabs like Trending, Moods and Genres. It's very likely that music stickers will be addable to videos, but it's also possible that it could also be added to photos.
Instagram is also rolling out Payments feature for select users in United Kingdom and US.
Payments is the next big thing for tech giants who are looking at retaining users in the form of customers by offering them a one-stop destination for all their needs, including social, photos, and now e-commerce. With the new Payments feature, users will be able to store their card details and purchase directly from the app without having to leave the app. As of now, the payments feature is available only for a select people in the U.S. and is only in beta.
