Tabloid paid out $30K to spike story alleging Trump love child

Feds are trying to determine if the American Media Inc. helped Trump during the presidential campaign
(AMI) gave Dino Sajudin $30,000 to gain rights "in perpetuity" regarding a rumor the ex-doorman had heard.
Sajudin was paid $30,000 by the Enquirer for the exclusive rights to his story about Trump's out-of-wedlock child.
The New Yorker and the Associated Press report that, ahead of the 2016 presidential election, President Trump ally and National Enquirer owner David Pecker killed a story on a rumor that the president fathered a lovechild in the late '80s. And while I understand the temptation to find out who this mysterious Trump offspring might be, and to learn absolutely everything about who this person is, what their life is like and what contact they've had with their extraordinarily famous father, I have a plea for all of us: Resist that temptation at all costs.
Trump's personal attorney, Michael Cohen, told the news service he had spoken about the rumor with the magazine when it was reportedly working on it.
"Pecker's not going to take thirty thousand dollars from company funds to shut down a potentially damaging story about his buddy without making sure it got back to him so he could get credit."
In addition, AMI and Mr. Pecker emphatically deny any suggestion that there might have been be any "partnership" created which might influence any business ties in regard to AMI. "These claims are reckless, unsubstantiated, and false", according to the statement.
Former Playboy model Karen McDougal alleged that her story about an affair she had with Trump was also bought by AMI only to never be published as well. He claimed the tabloid later made a decision to spike the story because it could not verify Sajudin's account, and released the ex-doorman from his contract - just after the 2016 election.
The New Yorker cited a source close to the White House insisting that Trump "did not have an affair".

Dino Sajudin, a doorman at a Trump building, agreed to tell his story to the Enquirer for $30,000 five months after the president launched his campaign in summer 2015. Pressed for more details about his tip and experience with the paper, Sajudin said he would talk only in exchange for payment.
Now, get this ... he claims, "On one occasion immediately after the 2016 presidential election, Mr. Sciricco told Mr. Sajudin 'I hope Trump gets rid of you all'".
Four longtime Enquirer staff members contradicted Howard's statement during interviews with the AP.
"Paying for information has always been a practice of The National Enquirer and to suggest that it has only paid for, and not run, stories about any particular person is absurd".
Its editor Dylan Howard said: 'Unfortunately... "For a fuller and more accurate portrayal of the facts, please read the full story on RadarOnline".
Shortly after The New Yorker piece published, Farrow sat down on Good Morning America to discuss the legal ramifications and what this could mean for A.M.I. and Cohen. Neither named the woman or the child. Federal authorities are apparently investigating that payment, having executed search warrants this week for evidence about that payment.
Trump has denied knowing about the Daniels' payment.
