As of this weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Black Panther has overtaken Titanic's $659 million total, the Marvel movie's $665 million domestic total (at time of publication) bringing it into third place.

Nearly two months after debuting in theatres, "Black Panther" has officially sunk the 695 million boxoffice record set by "Titanic", accordingto Friday's boxoffice figures.

The band "Black Panther" released by Marvel studios managed to break many records, becoming one of the top grossing films of the USA.

"Black Panther" had enough steam to pass "Titanic", but likely won't be able to pass "Avatar". It is now behind only Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avatar, the no. 1 and no. 2 movies respectively.

Black Panther - starring Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong'o, Letitia Wright, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya and Michael B. Jordan - sits just behind Star Wars: The Last Jedi on the global list, which is in ninth place with $1.33 billion. The Best Picture victor starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio has amassed $2.2 billion worldwide across its various theatrical runs, while Black Panther trails with an estimated $1.3 billion through Sunday.

It will be the first film to screen to the public in a movie theater in the country since it lifted a 35-year cinema ban.

The film, which was directed by Ryan Coogler, stands at $1.29 billion worldwide, ahead of smashes such as Frozen, and 2017 mega-hits Beauty and the Beast and The Fate of the Furious.
