The bail has been granted on a surety of Rs 50,000. But Mr. Khan appealed the decision, and the sentence was suspended.
The 52-year-old was convicted last Thursday by a district court in Jodhpur of violating the country's wildlife law two decades after he allegedly shot and killed two blackbucks during a hunting trip in 1998. The other four accused - actors Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam, and Sonali Bendre - were acquitted in the case.
Meanwhile, the Bishnoi community, which reveres the blackbuck, has chose to move the Rajasthan high court challenging the bail granted to Khan, according to Ram Niwas, the secretary of the Bishnoi Tiger Force.
