Apple Reportedly Working On Curved iPhone Displays

Apple Testing 'Touchless' Gestures for the iPhone
A future iPhone could be controlled without you even touching it. Apple is exploring touchless gesture control and curved screens, according to the latest rumors from Bloomberg. Those familiar with the plans claim that if Apple continues to develop these new technologies for the iPhone, they likely will not make their debut for another two or three years.
While Apple hasn't introduced touchless gestures in the past, companies like Samsung and Motorola have. Apple touchless control for upcoming iPhones will help users to use their phone. Unlike the display on the Samsung Galaxy S9, this new iPhone's display will curve from inwards from top to bottom (kind of like a banana).
We know that Apple is at least considering this tech based on a patent released in November 2017, which described using the iPhone X's TrueDepth's camera system to recognize hand movements in 3D space. It's also the first iPhone to feature an OLED display.
Samsung now uses smartphone screens that curve, but its curved screens slope down at the edges, rather than from top to bottom. This news was reported by Bloomberg. The report mentions that the technology will require the user to perform the gesture at a close distance to the display as the motion tracking system will be housed in the display panel. Both these features are said to be in early test and development stages and it may as well be the case that Apple may decide to put this on a halt.
Even Apple's new iPhone X, which introduced new facial recognition technology and a almost all-screen front, failed to universally impress reviewers. As the iPad Pro 2018 uses the Face ID, the tablet is expected to get the iPhone X-like notch on the top portion of the display, where the TrueDepth camera sensors are placed.
In contrast, Samsung's recent flagship phones have been equipped with displays that curve downwards on the left and right side to create the impression of a display with no edge.
