Audi confirms plans for a new all-electric sedan to directly rival the Tesla Model S.
Today, at its annual press conference, Audi announced that it's primed and ready to introduce a new vehicle every three weeks this year, with 20 new and redesigned models on the way.
"We interpret sportiness very progressively with our fully electric e-tron GT, and this is how we will take our high-performance brand Audi Sport into the future", Stadler said revealing an image of the new electric powered Audi model on a video wall. Solidifying the e-tron GT's performance credentials are the fact that it will be based on the same platform as the Porsche Mission-E.
As well as rivalling the Telsa Model S, the new Audi is also expected to see competition from a secret new pure electric Jaguar sedan being developed as a sister model to the recently unveiled I-Pace and successor the British vehicle maker's long running XJ sedan.
What's not clear at the moment is how Audi intends to differentiate its EVs, plug-in hybrids and mild-hybrid models in terms of nomenclature.
