Trump Just Lashed Out at NYT's Report on Turmoil in His Legal Team
As Robert Mueller's Trump-Russia investigation expands and accelerates, the president is reportedly looking to shake up his legal staff. Doug Jones (D-AL), who beat Trump-endorsed Republican candidate Roy Moore in a December special election, and Rep. Jimmy Gomez (D-CA), who in June won a run-off against another Democrat to replace California Attorney General Xavier Becerra in Congress.
Trump, apparently, has the same fear in mind.
On Sunday morning, Trump responded to the report, which described signs the President might be considering a possible shakeup on his legal team, by saying he is not unhappy with the team and taking a dig at Times reporter Maggie Haberman, who has interviewed Trump several times, including a lengthy discussion in the Oval Office past year.
Respected Washington attorney Emmet Flood met with Trump in the Oval Office earlier in the week, according to The New York Times.
Mr. Flood had been on the wish list of some of the president's advisers to join his legal team past year, and he is the only person the White House has been in contact with about such a role.
Two sources noted that the meeting does not signify any new developments in the investigation, per se, but rather underscores Trump's realization that it won't end anytime soon. Instead, the Russian Federation investigation appears to be gathering steam.
India Supreme Court restores 'love jihad' marriage The apex court had earlier allowed her to resume her Bachelors in Homeopatic Medicine and Surgery (BMHS) at a Salem-based college. On May 24, 2017, the Kerala HC declared the marriage a "sham", directing that she be returned to the "custody" of her parents.
White House lawyer Ty Cobb since the summer has taken the lead role in the dealing with the special counsel, the Timesreported. Marc Kasowitz, a NY litigator with a combative reputation who had represented Trump in business disputes, was replaced as head of Trump's personal legal team by John M. Dowd, who had deeper Washington experience.
Cobb has said he has no imminent plans to leave but has always told the president he views the job as temporary and will stay until his work is done.
President Donald Trump on Sunday slammed a story alleging that he was pondeirng the hiring of an impeachment lawyer, in part because he was unhappy with his legal time. "The writer of the story, Maggie Haberman, a Hillary flunky, knows nothing about me and is not given access".
Trump, notably, did not say anything about the key portion of Haberman's report-that the president invited Flood to the White House as he seeks a legal strategy to head off potential impeachment proceedings.
White House officials did not immediately answer a request for comment when the Times reached out.
