New Poll Shows Trump Should Think Twice About His Fight With The FBI

According to Quinnipiac University National Poll, President Trump has hit his highest approval ratings in seven months.

While it's hard to peg an increase in the president's approval rating to any specific event, some news items over the last few months may have helped boost Mr. Trump. Two-thirds of American voters overall give a resounding "no" to that question -- but Republican voters are roughly evenly split.

Additionally, 48 percent of Americans polled credit Trump with the state of the economy, while 41 percent say Obama deserves more credit.

Former FBI Director Robert Mueller was appointed by Trump's Justice Department in May, soon after the president fired then-FBI Director James Comey, who told congressional committees that his termination was an act of retaliation for refusing Tump's orders to end an investigation into a former campaign and administration official, Michael Flynn. But ask GOP voters, and it's the polar opposite.

85 percent of Republicans say he is not a racist, while 84 percent of Democrats say he is.
