Poland's President Supports Making Some Holocaust Statements a Crime
"The adopted amendments do not correspond to the nature and content of the strategic partnership that exists between the countries", said the text of the resolution, which was posted on the Ukrainian parliament's website.
The president of Poland, Andrzej Duda, announced on Tuesday that he will sign the bill that criminalizes saying the Polish people and nation took part in Nazi crimes during the Holocaust.
"I have made a decision to sign the law but also to send it to the Constitutional Tribunal", Duda told reporters in Warsaw on Tuesday. But at the same time...
In a televised address, Duda said the legislation would preserve Poland's global reputation and said that artistic and historical research work will not be affected by the law.
The Polish measure would impose prison sentences of up to three years for mentioning the term "Polish death camps" and for suggesting "publicly and against the facts" that the Polish nation or state was complicit in Nazi Germany's crimes. "If somebody acts as a spokesman for Israeli interests, maybe they should think about giving up their Polish citizenship and accepting Israeli citizenship", Nisztor said in a comment carried on the radio's official Twitter account. Nor did Polish government in exile ever collaborate with Nazis.
Israel has been outraged by the law, fearing it will enable Poland to whitewash the role of Poles who killed or denounced Jews to Germans during World War II.
Duda has attempted to ease some of the tension by suggesting a constitutional review of the law by Poland's top court.
The solid economy can give thanks to Janet Yellen They contend that her insistence on low rates has helped swell unsafe bubbles in such assets as stocks and perhaps home prices. Powell, a Fed board member since 2012, is "thoughtful, balanced, dedicated to public service", Yellen said.
Moreover, whilst the concentration camps were the site where Jewish people were killed in the millions, the murdering of Poles of Christian and other denominations (numbering in the hundreds of thousands) should not be discounted or forgotten.
"The blood of Polish Jews cries from the ground, and no law will silence it", Bennett said Monday.
The legislation, which still needs the president's signature to take effect, was introduced by Poland's governing right-wing Law and Justice party to stop people from erroneously describing Nazi German death camps as being Polish, simply due to their geographical location.
The dispute over the "blame" law has deeply wounded the relationship between Poland and Israel.
The U.S. has indicated that the law could suppress free speech.
"We will certainly talk about our common history soon", Joanna Kopcinska, the spokeswoman, said in a statement sent to Reuters. Some of the worst Nazi atrocities were committed on Polish soil.
The law sparked a diplomatic row with Israel, which believes the bill could threaten academic research of the Holocaust or open the door to prosecuting Holocaust survivors for their testimony should it concern the involvement of individual Poles allegedly killing or giving up Jews to the Germans.
