"We cannot react by using physical violence", she told the courtroom, noting she could not imagine Margraves' pain as a father.
Larry Nassar, the disgraced former MSU and USA Gymnastics doctor, released a statement in an effort to distance himself from comments made by one of his attorneys.
Judge Cunningham pointed out that Margraves heard new information during the hearing. "She (the victim) will come out and tell you this". "The guilt they have will never go away. Fortunately, nothing Ms. Smith says is capable of changing the truth, and the truth is readily apparent for anyone who wishes to know".
"I thank Judge Cunningham and all the court system for their leniency on me", he said.
The hearing focuses on Nassar's work with Twistars, an elite MI gymnastics club. "My daughters are the real heroes", he said, adding that he became enraged when "I had to hear what was said in those (victim) statements, and I had to look over at Larry Nassar shaking his head".
Nassar has already been sentenced to up to 175 years in prison for his guilty plea in a neighbouring county to molesting young women under the guise of medical treatment. He was sentenced January 24 to 40 to 175 years in prison for assaulting seven people in the Lansing area; more than 150 statements were given in that seven-day hearing.
