EA Confirms Anthem Is Launching Early 2019, Denies Development Woes

Anthem Officially Pushed into 2019

Battlefield Bad Company 3

There's a new Battlefield coming in October, and EA CFO Blake Jorgensen told the Wall Street Journal the company decided that Anthem will "get more attention if it came out in a quieter quarter".

Previous rumors had pointed to the game being scheduled to release in March of 2019 to pad Electronic Arts' fiscal year, but EA was coy to confirm the news after some BioWare employees let the news slip to some gaming media (under anonymity of course).

Electronic Arts has officially confirmed today that Anthem will be releasing in early 2019.

Rather, Jorgensen says that it's the launch of a new Battlefield game that has EA wary of releasing Anthem in the fall. Titanfall 2, released in 2016, is an outstanding FPS but faltered badly at launch despite being multiplatform (the original wasn't released for PlayStation) and getting a big push from EA-a failure widely attributed to the inexplicable decision to cram it between Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. "People are trying to create a story".

It will have been two years since Battlefield 1 released when the untitled Battlefield game hits in 2018, giving plenty of the time for the series to breathe.

Well, if it was originally meant to launch in fall of 2018 and now it's pushed back to March, 2019... it is a delay. And are you excited about a new Battlefield game?

As reported by IGN, all hands are on deck in the production of "Anthem", with all of the major producers and developers of BioWare being heavily involved in the creation of the game.
