Apple to Slow iPhone X Production Due to Poor Sales

First up, we have sources telling the Wall Street Journal Apple is seeing lower than expected numbers for iPhone X sales.

For comparison, Apple shipped 29 million iPhone X units in the fourth quarter of 2017, found out by Singapore-based market research firm Canalys.

One of the mains reasons for this is said to be the price. The only course of action is to retire the model and this could happen sooner than we think. It also includes a 7MP front-facing camera. Specifically, Kantar found that the iPhone X was among the top three best selling devices in the month of December across Europe, in urban China, Japan, Australia, and the U.S.

Although many people had hoped that Apple will release a follow up to the affordable and smaller iPhone SE, the analyst's predictions have introduced doubts that a second generation iPhone SE will ever be released.

The report added to growing concerns about weak sales of the $999 phone, making investors jittery about the company's financial outlook when it reports first-quarter results on Thursday. With all the problems that have hounded the company in relation to the performance of its older iPhone models, there have also been talks that the tech giant will cease production of its current flagship model, the iPhone X. And it is this latter handset that will be positioned as a "cheaper" option in late-2018. A likelier narrative points out the relative cost of production of iPhone X units. Apple is looking to produce 30 million devices and there is no indication at the moment that this position has changed. The OLED display, used in iPhone X is missing in it & is replaced by an LCD display.

The red-hot iPhone X is cooling off big time.

Apple plans to release an iPhone software update, called iOS 11.3, in the spring with new features that enable users to monitor the health of their phone's battery and protect against slowdowns. The media outlet also reports that Apple had difficulties keeping up with demand for the iPhone X right after launch because deliveries of major components had been delayed.
