The midfielder was close to moving to Stamford Bridge on transfer deadline day in the summer, but a move broke down in the final hours, with speculation at the time that he changed his mind during the medical. Chelsea are about to land Ross Barkley at the cut-rate price of €17 million.

The England global came close to joining Chelsea in the summer transfer window after the clubs agreed a £35m fee, but ultimately opted against the move.

With both Tottenham and even Arsenal interested in the England playmaker, the Blues want a swift resolution to the transfer rather than spend the entire January window.

The Telegraph and even the Metro further added that Chelsea is very confident of signing the Everton man.

He is out of contract at the end of the season and Toffees boss Sam Allardyce admitted on Thursday the club are "resigned to losing him". As soon as he's match-fit he'll undoubtedly be raring to go and eager to impress Antonio Conte.

The England global has less than six months left on his contract at Goodison Park and Tottenham was hoping to get him for free in the summer.

Barkley is all-but recovered from a serious hamstring injury that has forced him to watch the first few months of the season from the sidelines.

His news of joining Chelsea for £15 million was first broke by Paul Joyce of the Times, who revealed that Ross Barkley is likely to have a medical today (Friday) at Chelsea with a fee in the region of £15million.
