CES 2018 Watching movies on Television will never be the same with LG's 88-inch 8K OLED TVLG Display Press Kit
LG is breaking its own record with this display, as the previously largest OLED display was a 76.7-inch 4K LG TV that is still available for purchase at a cool price of $19,999.99.
CES 2018 is just days away and that must be why LG is kicking its publicity efforts into high gear with some genuinely jaw-dropping new technology like their latest experimental 8K OLED TV.
This makes LG's display worlds largest OLED panel as well as highest resolution OLED panel. Of course, one of the challenges for 8K resolution displays will be finding content which is shot at the resolution, considering 4K and HDR formats are just starting to take off.
LG will be showing off their new 88-inch 8K OLED display at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this month. The company has claimed that its QLED TVs are better than OLED TVs. The TV also sports a price tag of $20,000 but is of 4K resolution only. From what we have heard so far, the display boasts 33 million pixels, four times that of 3,840x2,160 ultra high definition and 16 times more pixels than 1,920x1,080 full high definition.
To recall, the largest OLED screen size debuted with support for 4K resolution back in the day. While this combination is now available for all major brands including the likes of LG, Sony, and Panasonic, except for Samsung, which has shifted its focus on QLED TVs.

The image quality of the jewellery displayed on the demo LG OLED TV model is the crispiest and clearest it can get on a big screen.
Notably, from previous reports, we have heard that LG Display has made huge investments to ensure its supremacy in the market by ramping up OLED production capacity. But again a TV with an 8K resolution is simply on another level.
Part of this includes the construction of a new OLED plant outside of Korea for the first time - in China's Guangzhou city, no less, and this was recently approved by the South Korean government.
LG has on several occasions, stated that they have started pushing OLED panels on mobile phones as well.
