Miss America COO reportedly resigns amid crude email scandal
27 December 2017, 02:46 | Jenny Fowler
President and COO of Miss America Josh Randle is stepping down
"This was not the CEO of an Organization laughing at inappropriate jokes and speaking about a former Miss America in email conversations".
The leaks also showed an email chain between Haddad, Haskell, Randle and Las Vegas socialite Lynn Weidner that appeared to show them mocking the weight of 2013 Miss America victor Mallory Hagan.
On Friday, award-show producers Dick Clark Productions severed ties with Miss America over the emails scandal.
The Miss America Organisation said its board "will be conducting an in-depth investigation into alleged inappropriate communications and the nature in which they were obtained". The Huffington Post also reported Randle resigned. "The Board thanks Lynn and Sam for many years of tireless work for, and significant financial support to, both the Miss America Organization and thousands of young women who received millions of dollars of educational scholarships from the Organization as a direct result of their efforts".
Gretchen Carlson - a pageant victor in 1989, a former board member of the Miss America Organization, and a former Fox journalist who sued Roger Ailes for sexual harassment and exposed a culture of terror at Fox News - was also regularly criticized and described as a "snake" and "INFUCKINGSANE".
Miss America 2013 Mallory Hagan, who turned 29 Saturday, was a subject of some of the worst of the emails between Haskell and other members of the organization.
And Mr Haskell wrote of tactics that would drive 1989 Miss America Gretchen Carlson "insane".
Miss America CEO suspended over 'inappropriate' leaked emails
"My hope is that this story that broke will bring light to the type of behaviour that's been in leadership of the Miss America Organisation and really help us put in place some people who care and who embody the mission of Miss America", Hagan said in a Twitter video.
A writer with the 2014 pageant also suggested calling former Miss Americas "cunts"; Haskell responded to the email by writing, "Perfect. bahahaha". "Having somebody bully you, demean you, degrade you in any way is not OK".
"I apologize to Mallory for my lapse in judgment", Randle said on Saturday.
"For the longest time, I've tried to explain to people around me that this is happening or these things are being said", the victor of the 2013 pageant told NBC.
Dick Clark Productions said in a statement on Friday they had been made aware of the emails "several months ago" and were "appalled by their unacceptable content".
According to the Huffington Post, Haskell replied: "It appears we are the only ones!"
