Child's body found in backyard, while 'mom' claims missing disabled son is in another state, visiting family

Cleveland case workers say mom of 9 on their radar before human remains found

Police say the missing boy's mother originally said he was in Houston with paternal relatives.

Police tipped off by a caller from Pakistan have discovered human remains believed to be of a 5-year-old boy in the backyard of a Cleveland home, reports CBS News.

Jordan's disappearance went unknown until Monday, when the brother of Larissa Rodriguez's boyfriend, Christopher Rodriguez, called Cleveland police from Pakistan, police said.

But someone from Pakistan, reportedly the child's step-uncle, had already called OH police to warn that Rodriguez had buried the child in her backyard after he died, according to KOAA.

Michelle, Larissa' other sister, said that she had previously notified Child Protective Services and urged them to remove Jordan from the suspect's custody.

When the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner dug the remains up, they found the body showed multiple signs of abuse, including broken ribs, the court records say.

According to a police report obtained by WOIO, Rodriguez said she did not know the phone number or address for the father or the aunt.

Refocused: Baltimore Ravens 27, Cleveland Browns 10
The Ravens defense forced four turnovers and finished with nine takeaways in two games against the Browns this year. The Ravens scored a pair of touchdowns in the closing minutes of the first half to take a 17-10 lead into halftime.

Police searched the house and backyard but didn't find anything. An affidavit from the county said the children were living in squalid conditions and that the home was infested with cockroaches and rats.

Cleveland police and investigators with the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office spent all day Tuesday digging behind a home on West 80th Street after receiving a tip that the boy was buried in the backyard.

In the past, the county took two children away permanently. She also said her son was developmentally disabled and was unable to speak, it said.

Five children - ages 1 to 12 - were removed from the home when the mother was taken into custody. Ana said she had seen the child bound and gagged with a sock.

They reportedly lived in such squalor that they found one of the children eating a cockroach-filled sandwich.

Children and Family Services had intervened with Larissa's custody of children as early as 1998, according to court records. According to documents from children and family services, a neglect complaint was filed four days after the child was born on April 3, 2003. The boyfriend is now jailed in another OH county on drug charges.
