It is too close to call between Sacramento and Cincinnati who are both worthy of an MLS team in this round of expansion. Nashville, Tennessee; and Sacramento, California, are finalists for two expansion clubs.
Nashville already has two major league sports franchises - the Tennessee Titans of the NFL and the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League (NHL).
It appears that Sacramento's biggest competition is Cincinnati and their record-setting attendance numbers. That means there is only one expansion team left to be awarded.
The Bee's editorial board added that "Republic FC fans will be sorely disappointed if there's no expansion franchise this time around".
