Report: Oregon names former Alabama assistant Mario Cristobal head coach

WATCH: Jameis Winston discusses FSU's hiring of Willie Taggart

When Cristobal coached FIU, he starting amid a 23-game losing streak in 2007 before taking the team to consecutive bowl appearances in 2010 and 2011.

With Taggart now the head coach, FSU football is back in play when it comes to recruiting in both South Florida - where USF was able to snag plenty of players from Miami, Fort Lauderdale and other areas including quarterback Quentin Flowers - as well as the Tampa area, known by most as Gator Country but an area that has produced several Seminole greats. After a 3-9 2012 season, FIU athletic director Pete Garcia fired Cristobal, with whom he often clashed.

Marcus Arroyo will serve as Oregon's lone offensive coordinator and play caller during the Las Vegas Bowl and the 2018 season, new UO head coach Mario Cristobal said Friday during his introductory press conference.

Death Stranding's New Trailer is Beautifully Bizarre
Despite the scarcity of information, " Death Stranding " is reportedly still in development for Sony's PlayStation 4. Norman Reedus doesn't mention much in the trailer but his acting skills just shines through even in a in-game format.

OR has given the job to co-offensive coordinator Mario Cristobal, who had been named interim head coach after Taggart's departure.

It was a move OR had to make.

Sports Northwest Aaron Fentress reports Cristobal's ascension to his second head coaching job, this one at a Power 5 program. Oregon's coaching staff will remain intact through the December 16 Vegas Bowl matchup against No. 25 Boise State (10-3) and Cristobal said he hopes to retain as many assistants as possible. With the early signing period coming up later this month and knowing Cristobal - Scout's 2015 recruiter of the year at Alabama - had likely persuaded many of those recruits to attend OR, the decision basically was made for the school. But Fentress says Oregon's boosters could offer Leavitt a raise from the $1.125 million he made this season to stick around.
