Even if you don't subscribe to Prime, Amazon Video might still be worth a look, as it offers the first episodes of Amazon Original TV shows for free, for all users.

If you have an Apple TV or similar device, you can use the iOS app to stream content directly to your TV, whilst we wait for the native Apple TV Prime Video app.

The beginning of service fulfilled the promise made by Apple CEO Tim Cook during a conference in June this year.

In the course of just two days, there's been a small quake in the Internet streaming landscape, meaning one more choice on the high end, one fewer choice on the low end for cord cutters.

Amazon's own streaming device, Fire TV ($70), competes directly with the pricier Apple TV ($149).

"Given this lack of reciprocity, we are no longer supporting YouTube on Echo Show and Fire TV", Google said.

Embattled Michigan Rep. John Conyers announces retirement
Conyers has denied all the allegations, and on Tuesday, wrote the accusations off as "politics". A few days later, she finally stated she believed Conyers should resign.

Apple's move comes a day after rival Google yanked its YouTube network (effective January 1) from Amazon's FireTV platform in what it says was retaliation for the e-tailer not stocking some Google-branded products.

On Tuesday, Google said it would remove access to YouTube from Amazon's Echo Show immediately and to Fire and Fire TV devices by the end of the years in response to Amazon's refusal to sell Google's Chromecast, Google Home and Nest devices.

The rivalry among leading brands has been helping other players to strive in the market. Amazon's decision of not selling the Google Chromecast and Apple TV (both of which have dedicated YouTube apps) has further strained the relation between Google and Amazon.

That latter stipulation has been frequently criticised by streaming services, including music platforms like Spotify, because Apple's cut from the subscription would take away those companies' entire (best case scenario) profit margin.

Google admitted that the move was retaliatory. If they manage to reach an agreement chances are you will still get to watch YouTube on Amazon devices after December 31st. You're paying for the experience - in particular, integration and syncing with other Apple gadgets. You can't get access to Sky's 4K sports coverage (although that holds true on any platform save Sky Q), and although there is a Now TV app, this only provides access to Sports via day passes. Six buttons are arranged in the centre of the remote's body providing quick access to core functions such as Siri voice commands, volume and play/pause, while a clickable, swipeable touchpad tops the remote.
