Google's mobile data-saving app has moved out of beta and renamed to Datally
Google on Thursday launched an app created to help Android phone users understand, control and save on their expensive mobile data.
Datally offers the option to send Google both your app's usage data and the SMS activity between you and your mobile operator so that the company can "improve" the app.
The app has been made available for all the devices running Android version 5.0 (Lollipop) or newer.
Datally offers a "Data Saver" feature that allows you to block data from certain apps or all background data usage, effectively meaning only the app that's now active on your screen will consume mobile data.
In addition, you get to track real-time data usage when using each of apps.
The app also serves as a crowd-sourced rating system for local Wi-Fi networks, which allows users to give a thumbs-up or thumbs-down to the network and view previous ratings.
When it was being tested in the Philippines, we saw carrier integrations that would allow users to install specific apps and earn data.

Googleannounced Thursday, November 30, it was formally launching Datally, a new mobile data management application, worldwide.
Google will soon add two more features in the app: Balance checking and balance expiration reminders and Proactive data usage warnings and controls.
According to Ehimuan-Chiazor, the app is a technology built to tackle some of the challenges being faced by internet users of the emerging market. You can, of course, configure which apps are on the "do not fly" list, as I think of it. The app has also been able to save people, on average, 30 percent of their data.
You can get Google Map directions to the Wi-Fi source and rate connections to help others make better decisions. Or, sometimes when you wonder where are you spending your mobile data. Google found during extensive global user research that many smartphone users worry about running out of data. Google has released an app of its own which can help curb the extra costs that could be incurred due to this.
Mobile data is expensive for many people around the world.
