24 Year Old Man Arrest For Serial Killer At Tampa

The suspect in the Seminole Heights killings is described as an African-American male with a light complexion.

Police arrested a man late Tuesday and said they will charge him with murder in a string of killings that have terrorized a neighborhood of Tampa. The manager alerted an on duty police officer dining inside the restaurant at the time, who called for back up.

Investigators found a.40-caliber handgun inside the bag, the same weapon that has been used in all four murders, police told Bay News 9.

It's been 51 days since Donaldson claimed his first alleged victim - 22-year-old Benjamin Edward Mitchell at a bus stop near his home in Seminole Heights Oct. 9. "Well, tonight goodness has won".

Including location. According to Tampa police, it was "significant" location data from a cell phone that helped link Donaldson to the crimes. One of the articles of clothing appeared to have a blood stain on it.

The man arrested in Tampa in a series of killings that unnerved residents for months was a graduate of St. John's University in New York City and part of the men's basketball team there, officials say.

"It's been a long time for the families and for the cops, and so I'm guarded on the whole thing, but I'm optimistic", Dugan said, adding it would be a long night for police.

The murder of 60-year-old Ronald Felton on November 14 as he crossed the street to the food bank where he volunteered twice a week, however, spurred new leads in the case - including additional video footage of a possible suspect.

"I am overjoyed right now". No further information was provided about Donaldson.

It's not clear why Donaldson picked the southeast Seminole Heights neighborhood of Tampa to choose his targets, but Dugan said he always believed the killer was familiar with that neighborhood.

Police increased their presence in the area, patrolling every street at all hours.

Tampa police were assisted by several other agencies including ATF, FBI, Florida Highway Patrol and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
