Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming historical drama Padmavati is facing a lot of issues. Vijay Rupani, the CM of Gujarat was the first to ban the movie in the state, citing the reason of law and order. Uttar Pradesh chief minister Adityanath accused Bhansali of playing with public sentiments as a habit.

The magnum opus sets out to tell the tale of Rani Padmavati - the legendary Mewar queen known as much for her beauty and intelligence as she was for her courage, her husband Maharawal Ratan Singh - a glorious Rajput ruler and a warrior king who fought till his last breath to defend his kingdom and his wife's honour and Sultan Alauddin Khilji - an ambitious and obsessive invader.

Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has said he won't allow the film to be released in the state.

He also refuted reports that the film would be release overseas on December 1.

In the wake of such protests and controversies, the release date of Padmavati has been delayed.
