Tom Baker return for surprise cameo in lost Doctor Who episode
Titled "Shada", the six-part storyline was set to be the third and final Doctor Who episode from iconic sci-fi scribe Douglas Adams (The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy). Shada was meant to be a celebratory episode to conclude the 17th series of Doctor Who, and was written by Douglas Adams, most famous for penning book The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Baker donned his trademark stripy scarf to film a scene at the BBC Television Centre in London, while other parts of the 1979 episode were completed with animation and the use of the actor's voice.
Baker, 83, last appeared as the Time Lord in 1981, after which, the character regenerated and Peter Davison took over as the next Doctor. The episode had to be shelved due to an industrial strike at the BBC.
"It's a nice way of waving goodbye to an era of Doctor Who and the 1970s and to Tom Baker in general", he said.
Tom Baker has returned to Doctor Who for one very special reason - he'll be helping complete a lost episode of the series so that it can finally be enjoyed in full.
