Boeing and Airbus reveal dueling multibillion-dollar deals at Dubai Airshow

Reports Airbus on verge of a signing deal to sell 430 A320's to US based investor Indigo Partners
Franke, whose Phoenix-based Indigo Partners controls Frontier Airlines and owns part of Mexico's Volaris, flew to the UAE today to sign the deal at the Dubai Airshow, marking one of the industry's biggest ever deals by volume, two people familiar with the matter said, Reuters reported.
The previous day, Boeing said that it had finalised an order for 20 additional 737 MAX 8s from ALAFCO Aviation Lease and Finance Company, doubling the lessor's order book for the MAX airplane.
This year, however, Airbus's share of the order tally had dropped to 35 percent before the Dubai show, with a rejuvenated Boeing management having made advances in Singapore and elsewhere.
Here's a quick walkthrough of the massive deals that have been announced in the past 4 days. Airlines and manufacturers often negotiate lower prices for big deals like these.
Indigo Partners, a USA firm, ordered 430 medium-haul A320neo and A321neo jets from the Toulouse-based company, at a cost equivalent to over Dollars $50 billion, according to reports.
The air show is proving a positive one for Airbus, who began the annual event lagging behind rival Boeing in the order department in 2017, so far.
Emirates believes Airbus can meet demands from the airline's owner, the Dubai government, for the European planemaker to guarantee development of the superjumbo A380 programme.

Boeing's big deal of the day was an agreement with flydubai, the hometown airline, for the purchase of up to 225 more 737 MAX jets for a list-price value of $27 billion. So it appeared to snub Airbus on Sunday, and chose to purchase 40 American-made Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners in $15.1bn deal that's certain to please US President Donald Trump who has touted the plane's sales as a job creator in America.
Emirates now relies exclusively on the Airbus 380 and the Boeing 777 for its flights, making it the largest operator of both.

The A320neo and A321neo jets feature new generation engines that use 15 percent less fuel compared to their peers.
For Indigo's portfolio of airlines, the 430 aircraft deal not only satisfies its current needs but also gives it leeway to grow as fast as the business can manage.
