The Russian Defense Ministry on Tuesday accused the US -led coalition of interfering with the Russian air force to protect retreating Islamic State (IS) militants.
The Russian Defense Ministry has described the United States' refusal to carry out strikes against convoys of the Islamic State (IS, terror group, outlawed in Russia) on November 9 as a fact recorded in the transcripts of the talks and furnished authentic photos of a militant convoy heading for the Syrian-Iraqi border, APA reports quoting TASS. Russia's Ministry of Defence has posted what it called "irrefutable proof" of the USA aiding so-called Islamic State - but one of the images was actually taken from a video game.
The Russian Ministry of Defence has used a videogame screenshot to accuse the U.S. of cooperating with ISIS.
The ministry's crop of the image even contained parts of the disclaimer text in the top right-hand corner, presumably left by the developer, which read: "Development footage". The statement wasn't even fully cropped out of the images that Russian Federation tweeted.
The ministry said US-led coalition planes instead tried to impede Russian Aerospace Forces operations in the area.
Coalition spokesman Col. Ryan Dillon called those claims, "about as accurate as their air campaign".
