Cybersecurity researchers have claimed they can fool the iPhone X's Face ID feature with a simple mask.

The smartphone rival admitted the flaw but said that it never claimed facial recognition was uncrackable. BKAV said the potential targets wouldn't be people with average threat models, it would be "billionaires, leaders of major corporations, nation leaders". The system relies on artificial intelligence. Over the course of around five days, Bkav was able to fabricate a 3D printed frame for the mask, in addition to handcrafted fake skin and simple 2D images of eyes and lips, all of which were created to mimic the appearance of the actual iPhone user, whose real face was logged into the iPhone's security system. However, we knew about this "learning", thus, to give a more persuasive result, we applied the strict rule of "absolutely no passcode" when crafting the mask.

The creation wasn't able to defeat Face ID at first, as other folks with the same idea have found.

But there's really no need to freak out, or disable Face ID.

The security firms success in breaking into an iPhone with a silicon mask makes the past rumours about Apple downgrading the face technology components, as a way to speed up shipping, even truer.

Tiffany & Co. will starting serving meals at its Blue Box Cafe, in the company's Fifth Avenue flagship store in New York City . The restaurant is decked out with decor in the chain's signature robin's egg blue, accented with silver and white.

No Longer "Mission Impossible " Philip W. Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing, speaks on September 13 at the launch of the iPhone X. Not only was the mask designed with intricate 2D and 3D parts an artist was hired to construct the nose of the mask. Instead, they focused only on specific spots of the mask to trick the depth-mapping technology.

It's not clear why the iPhone X was fooled by this less convincing, and frankly extremely creepy mask. This - again, according to Apple - makes Face ID significantly more secure than the fingerprint-based Touch ID system it replaces, which had odds of being unlocked by a stranger of 50,000 to one. "If convenience is more important, Face ID may be your choice". However many have raised concerns as to how safe is Apple's face ID?

The new technology has passed nearly all the security tests with flying colours; until a security firm called Bkav allegedly created a mask to beat the FaceID.

Bkav researchers began testing Face ID as soon as the iPhone X was released to them last week. "You can try it out with your own iPhone X, the phone shall recognise you even when you cover a half of your face", the hackers explained.

"This seems like an unlikely sequence of events", Paul Norris, a systems engineer at security company Tripwire said.
