MSNBC host Ali Velshi asked Breitbart News senior editor at large Joel Pollak to respond Thursday to accusations in The Washington Post against Alabama Republican U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore.
Roy Moore, a candidate for the U.S. Senate in Alabama, said during a debate on September 21 that "crime, corruption, immorality, abortion, sodomy, sexual perversion sweep our land".
On the same day news surfaced of sexual assault allegations against Alabama GOP Senate nominee Roy Moore, CNN released a report after reviewing old court documents that show Moore ruled in the 1990s as a circuit judge that a woman in a divorce case who had a lesbian affair could not see her children unsupervised.
Moore has strongly denied the accusations, attributing them to the Democrats and The Washington Post, which broke the story.
"These allegations are completely false and are a desperate political attack by the National Democrat Party and the Washington Post on this campaign", Moore said.
Why it matters: Moore is yet another example of the many men in power allegedly abusing women, and an Alabama elections spokesperson told Wash Post's Aaron Blake that it's "too late" to remove Moore from the ballot.
Alabama's special election to fill the seat left vacant by Jeff Sessions, whom Trump appointed as United States attorney general, is December 12.
Moore prevailed over several Republican opponents in a closely contested primary that saw US President Donald Trump, McConnell and most establishment Republicans back the incumbent, Luther Strange.
Said Gardner in a statement: "The allegations against Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore are deeply troubling".

"I would vote for Judge Moore because I wouldn't want to vote for Doug", Pow said. Later, he called and picked her up at her home, taking the then-14 year old Coffman to his house in the woods.
Moore, a former Alabama Supreme Court justice, has made his name in Republican politics through his public devotion to hardline Christian conservative positions. On a second visit, she says, he took off her shirt and trousers and removed his clothes. The two were sitting on a bench outside when she says Moore approached and introduced himself.
He added, "I would point out what's interesting in The Washington Post article is that they say 'teenagers, ' in fact, you repeated that start of this segment".
Pursuant to Alabama law, "a nomination for a candidate in a primary or general election shall be finalized by the respective state executive committees not later than 76 days before the primary or general election".
Corfman said he then asked her about her interests, and asked for her phone number. The age of consent is 16 in Alabama and has been since 1920.
To that end, WHNT News 19 has asked the Moore campaign multiple times to clarify which specific aspects of the Post's reporting on the Foundation for Moral Law are incorrect.
The campaign said later if the claims were true they would have come up in Moore's earlier races.
The two did not have intercourse, Corfman told the Post.
