Ezekiel Elliott granted stay and is eligible to play Sunday

While Ezekiel Elliott continues to insist that he is fighting for his name, his attorneys have attempted to settle his case with the National Football League and have the Dallas Cowboys running back's six-game suspension reduced, a source close to the situation told ESPN.

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott told reporters Friday, hours after an appeals court again put his suspension on hold over domestic abuse accusations, that he's fighting for more than just to remain on the field.

If he is granted a preliminary injunction by the appeals court, then he will likely be able to play with the Cowboys for the rest of the season while the case goes through the court system. Elliott, who was not arrested or charged in the case, maintains his innocence after being accused of assaulting his former girlfriend in Columbus, Ohio.

Saudi Arabia arrests 11 princes and four ministers in 'consolidation of power'
Earlier, Kingdom Holding reported it swung to a third quarter profit after restating the same year ago period to a loss. The arrests follow the king's dismissal of top ministers and a crackdown on dissidents.

Friday's stay marked the third time the courts have intervened to prevent the National Football League from suspending Elliott.

The Second Circut granted him an emergency stay, pending the appeal on Friday. The 2nd Circuit said its brief order does not constitute a resolution on the merits of the court case.

It is possible, if not likely, that the three-judge panel in NY will rule as early as Thursday, after oral arguments, on whether Elliott can play Sunday at Atlanta. The fact the hearing is so late in the week suggests the court will not have a verdict before Sunday's game, allowing Elliott to play this week against the Falcons. Elliott and the NFLPA want judges to grant them a preliminary injunction.
