George HW Bush on Trump: 'I Don't Like Him'

Both Bush presidents bash 'blowhard' Donald Trump as unfit for the presidency

According to the book, George H.W. Bush voted for Hillary Clinton a year ago (as it was reported he meant to do), while George W. Bush left the presidential slot on the ballot blank. "And I'm not too excited about him being a leader".

"I don't like him". After Carter said Trump was being given a hard time by the media, the latter thanked him by tweeting his thanks for the "nice remarks ..."

In a speech on October 19, W. Bush took aim at bullying from public figures, and although a representative said his comments weren't meant to criticize Trump, the current president was embroiled in a feud with a Democratic congresswoman over whether he made an insensitive remark to the grieving wife of a fallen soldier.

The book also has some surprisingly frank reactions by George W. Bush to certain claims, including that his vice president, Dick Cheney, and defense secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, were the real power brokers in his administration.

Mark Updegrove, the author of the book, talked to both Bushes on the record and they made it clear previous year they were none too happy about the former reality television star becoming president.

While President Trump has not been a favorite in the Bush households, the former father and son presidents' dislike of their successor is now quite clear. It also highlights ideological divisions within the Republican Party.

The book is titled The Last Republicans and in it, Updegrove takes a look at what is now seen as the bygone era of the GOP establishment.

The U.S. government is recalling nearly 40 million fire extinguishers, for fear that the products may not work in an emergency. Owners should contact Kidde to ask for a replacement and for instructions on how to return recalled models.

Indeed, at one point during the 2016 presidential campaign, the younger Bush confided to the author, "I'm anxious that I will be the last Republican president".

"Wow, this guy doesn't know what it means to be president", the younger Bush said. When Trump stated that "I'm my own adviser", Bush concluded that he just did not understand the presidency.

"If one presidential candidate can disassemble a political party, it speaks volumes about how strong a legacy its past two presidents really had", a White House official told CNN.

"The Last Republicans", published by HarperCollins, will be out November 14. The Bushes felt stung by Trump's ground-burning attacks that helped destroy the campaign of Jeb Bush, the son and brother of the presidents.

"At the time, I think he was concerned that Hillary Clinton would win", Updegrove said in an interview, according to the Times.

George W Bush, however, said he simply left his presidential ballot blank.
