Selena Gomez Opens Up About

However, one day it became too much when Selena couldn't physically open a water bottle. "That was it, and I didn't want to ask a single person in my life".

Selena pop star suffers from Lupus, an auto-immune system disease which caused side-effects so severe on her organs that doctors told her she would need a new kidney.

She told fans that her lupus diagnosis was the one that had sent her kidneys into failure, and spoke out for the first time on the secret procedure she underwent.

Francia woke up feeling calm, but when Selena woke up from her first surgery, she started hyperventilating. And she goes, 'I don't know what to do, the list is seven to ten years long. Francia immediately volunteered to get tested and found out she was a match.

"My teeth were like grinding, I was freaking out".

The friends also detailed their lengthy recovery process, which left the two with little to do but sit or lay around as their bodies healed from the surgery. "Apparently one of the arteries had flipped. I just hope that this inspires people to feel good to know that there [are] really good people in the world", the singer said.

And despite a "humbling" recovery process, during which Selena and Francia were only able to walk for about an hour a day and needed help doing everything, including taking showers, Selena said the ordeal has already had noticeable effects on her life.

"Selena and I were in the same group and we just clicked", Raisa said.

The limitations were particularly tough for Francia to get used to when it came to bathing and changing. And her pal Francia Raisa, who donated her kidney to save Gomez's life, was right there by her side.

"My kidneys were just done", the 25-year-old sais on USA breakfast programme The Today Show host on Monday. In a short teaser, we saw the Wolves artist explain how her BFF/kidney donor actually saved her life amid her Lupus battle. "My mom didn't want to be there until I woke up", Raisa added. "Usually, the process takes like six months, so it was really fast". "My lupus - there's about a three-to-five-percent chance it'll ever come back". I don't think what we went through is easy.
