Houston Texans Players Kneel During Anthem In Response To Bob McNair's 'Inmates' Comment

Seahawks consider trading TE Jimmy Graham to get left tackle: Report

On Sunday's game in Seattle, majority of Houston Texans players took a knee during the national anthem as a symbol to protest Texans Owner Bob McNair's controversial "inmate" comments.

The Texans had debated how best to protest their owner's comments from this month, revealed this week in an ESPN story, that, "We can't have the inmates running the prison".

He's apologized twice since the report surfaced saying that he was referring to the relationship between the league office and team owners and he also met with players Saturday morning.

The Seahawks pass blocked well enough, especially on plays when they kept in extra protection. But they ultimately made a decision to sit or kneel during the anthem.

"I know they were upset", McNair told the Houston Chronicle.

Disturbed murder and assault charges were recorded against the 37-year-old Gurto prior this month. She had limit compel wounds to her head and body, and kicked the bucket at a doctor's facility.

Despite rumors that the players would remove the Texans decals from their helmets, they ended up leaving them on.

About Texans players stood during the anthem, but locked arms with the players who chose to kneel. The comment was not well-received in the room (it was said during an owners meeting), and McNair apologized to National Football League executive and former National Football League player Troy Vincent after the meeting - saying he felt disgusting and this his words weren't to be taken literally.

The national anthem protests began in 2016 when Colin Kaepernick, then a San Francisco 49ers quarterback, began sitting and later kneeling during the anthem to call attention to police shootings of unarmed black men in the United States.

But McNair's seeming comparison of the league's players to "inmates" sparked a bitter backlash from players across the league - and even from players in other sports.

I wonder if some players will kneel or sit next week as well.
