Iran nuclear deal: Tehran threatens to 'shred' agreement if US withdraws support

Iran calls for NUCLEAR ACTION against US accusing Washington of 'creating ISIS'

Iran´s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Wednesday dismissed US President Donald Trump´s aggressive criticism as "rants and whoppers" while vowing that Tehran would stick to its nuclear commitments. The UK, France, Germany, Russia, China and the European Union all endorsed the agreement.

"I don't want to waste time on answering the rants and whoppers of the brute U.S. president", Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei added that Mr Trump's description of the deal as leading to "more violence, more chaos" was "nonsensical" and the result of a "foul-mouthed president".

European Union Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini, too, said the 2015 nuclear deal is "working", stressing that the USA can not unilaterally cancel the global agreement.

The remaining parties to the accord insist Washington can not unilaterally cancel a multinational deal enshrined by a United Nations resolution.

Khamenei said the world should not be fooled by Trump´s public persona.

Europe "must refrain from entering into our defence issues", Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said he welcomed expressions of support for the accord from European states but if the U.S. tore up the deal, Iran would "shred it to bits". If Trump ditched the deal, "Iran will shred it".

"To ask the same thing (as the Americans) about why Iran is present in the region - well, deal with it".

Iran claims it is developing nuclear weapons purely for defensive purposes.

He also said that his new strategy begins with imposing tough sanctions on the IRGC, accusing Iran of "proliferation of missiles and weapons that threaten its neighbor's global trade and freedom of navigation".

The senior commander went on to say that not only European countries and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) refused to comply with Trump's stance toward Iran, but even his own defense and state secretaries held him in contempt for such a stance.
