Pat Perez victorious again at the 2017 CIMB Classic

But having produced a masterclass in putting at the TPC Kuala Lumpur all-week, Perez remains well on course to become the oldest victor in the CIMB Classic at 41 years old.

Entering Sunday with a four-shot lead, the American fired a three-under 69 to finish on a stunning 24 under par for the week.

Perez, 41, was never threatened in the fourth round in Malaysia, with 2011 US PGA Championship victor Keegan Bradley (67) finishing second. Even that, though, left him eight short of Perez.

"(I) landed flawless and thought 'Oh made it, it's going to go in, '" Kim said.

"Of course everybody wants to win, it would be nice to do it, but I'm not going to put pressure on myself to win. I'm going pretty hard tomorrow (today)".

It was Perez's third PGA title, following on from wins at the Bob Hope Classic in 2009 and the OHL Classic in November previous year.

World No. 3 Hideki Matsuyama of Japan soared up the leaderboard with a 63 to be six behind Perez, on 15 under with American Keegan Bradley (65).

But the 24-year-old regained his groove with birdies at the 16th, 17th and 18th holes to finish in a tie for fifth at 16 under, eight shots behind Perez.
