Facebook rolls out food ordering through its website

Facebook now lets you order food without leaving Facebook

In line with that, the social networking giant on Friday announced that users can now order food for takeout or delivery using Facebook's mobile app and website. You're really not doing all that much with the new Facebook app, but it is a convenience. "You can even check out what your friends have to say about a restaurant before you order your food". It will be available for desktop, iOS, and Android applications, with new partners. "For example, if you have an account with Delivery.com, you can easily order with your existing login". Facebook has avoided the various complications that arise when you have a physical workforce by partnering with a number of established players in the food-ordering business - such as EatStreet, Delivery.com, DoorDash, ChowNow, and Olo - and letting them do the heavy lifting. Facebook's two-billion strong users get hungry, and before ordering food users will need to jump ship to another app.

The new addition has been in testing since 2016, Facebook says. Rather than interrupt your stalking marathon, simply head on over to a restaurant's Facebook page and click "start order", so you can nourish yourself as you wade deep into the dark early 2000s recesses of your old track teammate's profile.

"Today, we're taking the time out of finding what you want to eat by officially launching the ability to order food for pick-up or delivery, directly on Facebook".

Right now, Facebook has partnered with a variety of restaurants.
