White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders points as she begins to take questions from the media during the daily briefing in the Brady Press Briefing Room of the White House Thursday Oct. 5 2017

When she asked about the significance of the word "nasty" on the shirt, the mayor simply replied that it was a reference to the President Trump referring to her as a "nasty mayor".

Sanders said "he does" when asked if Trump stands by his secretary of State. "And that's all that today was about".

"As we've said many times before, I know the president has - as I have said from this podium on quite a few occasions - never going to say in advance what the president is going to do", the press secretary noted.

On Friday, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders declined to elaborate on what, specifically, the President meant. Trump also is waiting for the investigation to move further along, she said. "Apparently this allows you to take a semiautomatic and turn it into a fully automatic so clearly that's something we need to look into".

Sanders likely will face questions about the Trump administration's plan to scrap a federal health provision requiring employers to provide coverage for birth control.

"Why Isn't the Senate Intel Committee looking into the Fake News Networks in OUR country to see why so much of our news is just made up-FAKE!" said the 6:59 a.m. missive. The President had said in a tweet that "The Mayor of San Juan, who was very complimentary only a few days ago, has now been told by the Democrats that you must be nasty to Trump", a week before his visit - and indeed, that seems to be exactly the case.

On Thursday evening, reporters were led hastily to the State Dining Room, where they walked into a scene of the president, his highest-ranking military advisers and their wives posing for a group photo.

She added, "I think you can take the president protecting the American people always extremely serious".

Sanders cited statistics showing that only five percent of the media's coverage was positive about the president, despite good news in the stock market, job numbers, cutting regulations and the war against ISIS.
