OJ Simpson has been freed from jail
Hockey broadcasting icon Dave Strader, who called Dallas Stars games the past two seasons, passed away Sunday morning after a more than year-long battle with cancer, the team announced. He called games for multiple teams in the league, including the Detroit Red Wings, the Florida Panthers, the Arizona Coyotes, and the St. Louis Blues, but the majority of his work took place with the first team that he worked for, the Adirondack Red Wings (AHL). Strader went on to join the elite likes of Mike "Doc" Emrick, Bob Miller, and the late Gene Hart, among others, as the most honored and iconic voices of our beloved game.
Strader was named in April by the Hockey Hall of Fame as recipient of the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award for his contributions as a hockey broadcaster. Prior to joining the Stars, he called games for NBCSN and the NBC Sports Group.
He was sidelined for much of the 2016-17 season after being diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma, a rare form of cancer in the bile duct, in May of 2016, eventually returning to the booth for a handful of Stars games, including a national call. Stars president Lites actually hired Strader when he was with the Red Wings organization. The team is also working with the ECHL to get to wear stickers on the back of its helmets to honor him for the full season.

The Red Wings released a statement saying they are "saddened" to learn of Strader's passing. Even videos from around the league were sent in and played for Strader, showing their support for him and proving that the man known as "The Voice" had made an impact not just in Dallas, but throughout the country and the world of hockey. The entire Flyerdelphia staff would like to express our condolences to the Strader family in these very hard times.

Kickoff and punt coverage were solid for, presenting an overall standard day for the rest of special teams, giving them an A. Why should the rulebook tell the Lions they couldn't accomplish something they've already done in the past?
