Bayern Munich Boss Carlo Ancelotti Could Be Fired Within The Next 24 Hours
Bayern Munich have confirmed that they have parted ways with manager Carlo Ancelotti after a poor start to the season.
The 58-year-old was relieved of his duties after Bayern fell to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of PSG in the Champions League.
While the league title duly arrived in his one and only full season, Ancelotti's Bayern was outclassed by Real Madrid in the quarterfinals of the Champions League and knocked out in the semifinals of the German Cup by Borussia Dortmund.
Assistant boss Willy Sagnol will take temporary charge.
Bayern next faces Hertha Berlin away in the Bundesliga on Sunday.
"The performance of our team since the start of the season did not meet the expectations we put on them", said chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
"I would like to thank Carlo for his cooperation". I think it's important to turn things around after this loss, to present as Bayern Munich and to show we are a team, [the one] which performed well in Europe and in Germany a year ago.
Earlier on Wednesday night, Ancelotti, a three-time Champions League victor, said he was "still convinced it was good line-up but the situation of the game was against us".
He has also managed clubs like Parma, Juventus, AC Milan, PSG and Chelsea where he won tiltles.
The big problem was Carlo Ancelotti has a completely different style to Pep Guardiola.
"I think it's important to turn things around after this loss".
Ancelotti is a wonderful human being. One loss does not a coaching job cost, not normally at least.
"Because of our decision not to sign any very expensive players, we have been accused of taking the wrong path in the market which could lead to the downfall of the club - but instead people should be singing our praises because we have been successful down to our own work and resources". Meanwhile, former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel is the best tipped to take over as he is now without a team at the moment, although the dreamer in Munich for the future is Jürgen Klopp, now in Liverpool.
