After Irma: Power restored to most of Palm Beach

1.1 million in Florida still without power after Irma

Duke Energy Corp, which serves the northern and central parts of Florida, said on its website it expects to restore service to most customers by midnight September 17.

Florida Power & Light Company continues aggressively working to restore power to the remaining customers who are still without power as a result of Hurricane Irma, officials reported September 17.

According to WLRN, Florida Power & Light spokesperson Rob Gould said by Sunday night, nearly all of the eastern half of the state should have power restored, although for the western side, it could take until Sept 22.

About Georgia Power Georgia Power is the largest electric subsidiary of Southern Company (NYSE: SO), America's premier energy company.

FPL expects the majority of restoration in Northeast Florida counties to be completed today, with a small amount finishing on Tuesday.

The company announced that as of 10 p.m. on Thursday power had been restored to 920,000 customers throughout the state with an approximate 75,000 customers left to go.

FPL spokesman Dave McDermitt said the remaining local power outages are not confined to specific neighborhoods.
