The ASsembly passed the budget on Wednesday. They've also criticized it for lacking a long-term plan for roads projects, an omission that will further delay road work around the state and cause another $400 million to be borrowed for public-works projects.

Republicans were one vote short of the 17 needed to approve the $76 billion plan before the deal with Walker was struck.

Walker's office said he would also veto a tolling implementation study authorized in the budget, along with a provision that would have preempted local regulations on quarries. Prevailing wage requirements, meanwhile, lay out a minimum wage for workers on state construction projects.

The Assembly approved the package 59-30 last month but had to take it up again because the Senate adopted changes to it on Tuesday.

Right now, Governor Scott Walker is on a trade mission in Japan and South Korea and he says he's met with a number of companies looking to invest in Wisconsin.
