GETTY Sergi Roberto has a £36m release clause in his contract at Barcelona

Sergi Roberto

It's easy to see why managers Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte would be interested in Sergi Roberto as he is a very versatile player who is comfortable playing in defence or at the heart of the midfield.

Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto is not for sale, according to sources close to ESPN FC.

Sky Sports have picked up on something in the Spanish media vehicle, Don Balon and reporting that Roberto is subject to interest from two English Premier League clubs, Chelsea and Manchester United, and also the La Ligue club Monaco.

But with the French champions unwilling to sell any more of their stars, Mundo Deportivo are reporting that they have switched targets and approached Barca instead.

However, Roberto's future at the Nou Camp is now in serious doubt as he's expected to lose his place in new boss Ernesto Valverde's starting eleven following the arrival of Nelson Semedo from Benfica.

Now, it seems United have turned their attentions to yet another La Liga player - this time Sergi Roberto.

The 25-year-old Barca academy product became an important member of the first-team squad last season and clocked up 47 appearances across all competitions.

United are willing to satisfy Roberto's £36 million release clause, but Chelsea and Monaco have been linked with a move for the Spaniard as well.

Sergi Roberto has already strongly been linked with Manchester City this summer, with the Catalan press pushing the story more than anyone.
