Google's Pixel 2 Emerges With Stereo Speakers, Large Bezels, No Headphone Jack
05 August 2017, 12:35 | Jenny Fowler
With no headphone jack and a seemingly generic design that is reminiscent of last year's models, it does not look like Google and HTC are making essential efforts to make the Pixel 2 as dazzling as possible. The rear glass panel on these phones has apparently been scaled down to feature a single rear camera sensor instead of a dual camera version, which is the latest trend in the mobile market. The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are said to look identical aside from the larger screen on the XL. We have seen Google doing wonders with the 2016 Pixel cameras and it seems that Google will be breaking the walls again to create new Imaging Standards with the Pixel 2. On the other hand, while you probably won't miss out on photo quality if you go with the Pixel 2, you will be left without gimmicks such as true black and white images or "Portrait Mode".
Although the next Pixel device is featuring stereo speakers, VentureBeat has confirmed that Google is ditching the headphone jack on both devices, the 2 and XL 2. As for the Pixel 2 variant, you still get a 5-inch display screen, but this will mean the phone gets a lower price tag as well compared to the high-end model.

With many OEMs moving towards this direction, it won't be long before you start finding it hard when it comes to bumping into decent headphones that are compatible with 3.5mm audio jacks.
As usual with new Google phones, the upcoming pair will be the first to ship with the newest OS in town - Android O. The tech giant will be releasing the OS in a few weeks' time, where the current Pixels and Nexus devices will be the first to receive the OTA updates. However, thanks to today's Pixel image from VentureBeat, we now know that the smaller device will not adopt the same design as its larger sibling.
